I recently received a free copy of “The Lucado Life Lessons Study Bible” from Booksneeze.com. I was actually pretty excited to receive this. I have enjoyed Max Lucado’s writing style over the years. And, if you couple that with the Bible, you should have a great resource that makes it even more enjoyable to read/study the Bible. Unfortunately, the experience was less than overwhelming.

Obviously, there was nothing wrong with the Bible portion, so please no that I am not reviewing the Bible, just the part that makes it a “Lucado Life Lessons” Bible.

First, the pages are EXTREMELY thin and the print is pretty small. This is not a good Bible to use if you have trouble with either of those. I found it difficult even to flip through the Bible just to get a taste of things.

Also, the addition of Max Lucado isn’t really all that exciting. Yes, there are some interesting notes and questions to consider, but nothing you couldn’t find in more detail in one of his books (or one by one of the other authors that made it in).

If you’re looking for something to really enhance your study of the Bible or your appreciation for it, you may want to look elsewhere. Unless you are a die hard Max Lucado fan, you probably won’t find this Bible to be worth your time.
